Joseph "Joe" Louis
Robert "Bob" LaBrie Sr.
1940 - 2018
WATERVILLE - Joseph Louis Robert LaBrie Sr., passed away peacefully on May 7, 2018, at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta.
Joseph was born in Waterville on March 28, 1940, to Martha (Dumais) and Emile LaBrie.
Known to family and friends as "Bob", he married the love of his life, Nancy Gallagher in 1960. Together they raised four children.
Bob served his country proudly in the Air National Guard from 1957-1959, and then served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962. He worked for Scott Paper until their closing, and then retired from Colby College.
Bob was an avid bowler, softball player and a member of the Lions Club, VFW and American Legion. He loved watching the Patriots and Red Sox, but more than that, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play school sports.
Bob loved to travel and provided the opportunity for his family to visit several places all over the country. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy; his children: Joseph LaBrie Jr. and wife, Bonnie; Martha Spaulding and husband, Tim; Allison Campbell and husband, Michael; Kevin LaBrie and wife, Robin; his grandchildren: Michael, Sarah, Brandon V., Amanda, Courtney, Christopher, Brandon L., Amber, Hunter, Ashley, Dustin and Kayla.
He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. Bob was predeceased by his parents; his brother Peter; and infant daughter, Trudi.
Bob's family would like to say a special thank you to all the nurses, CNAs and hospice workers at the Maine Vets Home. You all took such great care of him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 12, from 12-4 p.m., at the Fairfield VFW, 246 Main St., Fairfield. Please visit www.veilleuxfuneralhome.com to share condolences, memories and tributes with Bob's family.
