PORTLAND -- James Joseph Gooldrup Jr. was taken from us unexpectedly at his home on Feb. 4, 2013. He was the husband of Dorothy L. (Gammon) Gooldrup, of Biddeford.

He was born on Jan. 9, 1969, in Waterville, son of Cindy and stepfather Robert Caswell, of Fairfield, and James J. Gooldrup Sr., and his stepmother, Irene, of Biddeford.

Jim grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Lawrence High School. Right after high school, he enlisted in the Army and served his country for the next four years. He married Dorothy on Aug. 29, 1998.

Jim was a cook by trade. He cooked for many different places, most notably Twin City Cafe in Biddeford, and The Dry Dock in the Old Port in Portland. He truly loved molding the young and volunteering at the Yes League and Portland Parks and Recreation; however, he spent most of his time at the Boys and Girls Club on Cumberland Avenue in Portland, and his wife also played in a co-ed softball league in Biddeford together.

Besides his parents and his wife, he is survived by eight children, James Gooldrup III, of Florida, Barbara Gooldrup, of Augusta, Rebecca and Rochelle Gooldrup, both of Florida; Harley Gooldrup and James, both of Onancock, Va., and Dorothy and Calvin Gooldrup, whom he lived with. He also leaves a grandson, James; a brother, Randy Caswell, and his fiancŽe, Joanna, of Clinton, a stepbrother, Chris Kennedy, of Brooks; and two sisters, Robin Hilinger and husband, Kevin, and Tonya Kinny and husband, Dean, of Brooks; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim we love you and miss you and always will.

Relatives and friends attended a visitation on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Wilde Memorial Chapel at Evergreen Cemetery, 672 Stevens Ave., Portland. Military honors were presented.
