Howard Boardman, 89
CHERRY HILL, N.J. - Howard Boardman, 89, died June 25, 2017, in Cherry Hill, N.J. His life spanned three continents and two world wars.
Born in London, he emigrated in 1939 to Little-ton, N.H., with his mother, Sylvia Brockway Boardman. His father, Roy C. Boardman, remained to run the family business. He graduated from Littleton High School in 1946. A Korean War veteran, he served four years in the U.S. Army 71st Signal Service Battalion in Tokyo, where he met his wife, Marguerite M. Kitazawa. He attained a B.S. in electrical engineering from UNH in 1956, and a master's from U of P. He was employed 31 years at RCA/GE in Moorestown, N.J., and worked in the U.S. Navy Systems Readiness Program.
His six children, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson survive him: Anne Miller (Sam), Alex and Owen; Elizabeth Mandese (Nick, deceased), and Alfonse; Deborah Boardman Lefevre (Eugene), and Thomas; Peter Boardman (Wendy Crawford), Michele and Daniel; Andrea Boardman (Jean-Hugues Rochette), Sebastien and Loic Rochette; and Paul Boardman (Marie Aiello), Taylor, Cameron and Brianna. He also is survived by his dear sister, Katharine Philbrick (William, deceased); and three nephews. He also is survived by his loving companion of 20 years, Dotti Diamond, of Cherry Hill, N.J. His prior wife, Anita (Trachtenberg) Boardman, predeceased him. His former wife and mother of his children, Marguerite M. Boardman, predeceased him.
He enjoyed drawing, dancing, and travel in retirement. His love of jazz drew him to volunteer at Clearbrook Community's radio station in Monroe Township, N.J. He was a caring and immensely proud father, grandfather and great-grandpapa.
Interment is private. A memorial gathering is being planned in August for family and friends. Arrangements are by the Grasso Funeral Home, Philadelphia, Pa.
