Herbert H. Bryne Jr.
1924 - 2018

AUGUSTA - Herbert H. Bryne Jr., 94, of Augusta, died Wednesday July 4, 2018, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta.
He was born in Salem, Mass., May 17, 1924 the son of Herbert H. Sr. and Mildred (Cutler) Bryne. He graduated from Hallowell High School and was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1943. He served with the Tenth Mountain Division, earning the Bronze Star Medal twice and the Combat Infantryman's Badge, as well as several other ribbons. He was discharged in 1945 having attained the rank of Tec 5. He married Harriet (Hillier) July 6, 1944, at St. Mark's Church in Augusta.

Herb worked at two local print shops and for New England Telephone before going on to work for Central Maine Power for 30 years.

He is predeceased by his wife Harriett, of 63 years; and his grandson, Robert Bryne.

He is survived by his two sons, Kerry and his wife, Lori, and Stanley and his wife, Sue; his grandchildren, Llana, Patrick, Nora, and Shelby; as well as four great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may visit at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church Street, Augusta, Friday, 3-7 p.m. A graveside service will be held at the Hallowell Cemetery on Saturday at 9 a.m.
