Hazel Natalie (Warren) Jones
1928 - 2017
RANDOLPH - Hazel Natalie (Warren) Jones, 89, passed peacefully from this life at home with her family on the morning of Sept. 27, 2017. While she assured her family she was in no hurry to move on, she consistently stated she was ready. She felt she had had a good life and her only regret was not having the opportunity to watch her great-grandchildren grow and mature.
Hazel was born on July 26, 1928, in South Berwick, to Herbert C. and Rose G. (Stackpole) Warren. She graduated from Berwick Academy in 1945 at the age of 16. In 1950 Hazel married Richard C. Jones, then from Berwick. They lived in Rhode Island during part of his time in the Navy, returned to the Berwick area then, in 1968, moved to Randolph.
Hazel had worked a number of jobs over the years, always working around the needs of her family and doing whatever she needed to help support the family while also giving her the opportunity to meet others. She loved getting to know people and right until the end she took an interest in others, befriending her hospice workers. The steady flow of visitors demonstrated her ability to connect with others in a meaningful way. Her one unmet goal at the end was to pick up her friend Dolly and go visit Noreen one more time.
Hazel was predeceased by an infant son Kevin Jay Jones, her daughter Karen Joy Gagnon and Karen's husband Kelvin; and her brothers Herbert and Fredrick Warren and their wives, Amelia and Claire respectively.
Hazel is survived by her husband of 67 years, Richard of Randolph; a daughter Karol and her husband Mark Rush of Randolph; grandchildren, Aron McCarthy and his wife Jenn of Sidney, Ryan McCarthy and his wife Holly of Wayne, Kara McCarthy Wing of Augusta, Richard Rush and his wife Margie of Lockport, Ill. and Daniel Rush of Randolph. Hazel also was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Grace and Aidan McCarthy of Sidney, Jackson and Ella Wing of Augusta and Lincoln King-Rush of Randolph.
It was important to Hazel and her family that acknowledgement and thanks be given to Dr. Laura Caron at Family Focused Healthcare for the years of care and compassion she has provided, it has been greatly appreciated. The family also appreciated the support of Beacon Hospice Services through this end of life journey, particularly Peter McWalters, RN and Ashley Bionne, CNA.
A celebration of Hazel's life will be held at Staples Funeral home in Gardiner at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday the Oct. 7r, with a committal service at Oak Grove Cemetery to follow.
