Harold E. Wilber
1921 - 2017
PITTSFIELD - Harold E. Wilber, 96, died peacefully on Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, in Hartland.
Harold was born on July 4, 1921, the son of Percy and Eva (Jamieson) Wilber. He served in the United States Army during World War II and received numerous medals. He worked several years in manufacturing as a hand sewer and machinist. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and being in the woods. He loved to refurnish furniture and always liked to find a good deal by dickering and trading.
He is survived by his four daughters, Marilyn Race, and husband Ronald, of Pittsfield; Dianne Whalen, and husband John, of Canaan; Jolene Clark, and husband Mike, of Pittsfield; and Janine Hastey, and husband Allan, of Detroit; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Evelyn; son, Randall Wilber; and four siblings, Betty, Marion, Carl and David.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., with a funeral service at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A committal will immediately follow at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield, with military honors being presented for his service to our country.
