Guy E. Hunnewell Jr.
1941 - 2017
EMBDEN - Guy E. Hunnewell Jr.,75, of Embden, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
Guy was born to Guy E. and Alice B. (Atwood) Hunnewell, Sr. in Embden on June 26, 1941. He graduated from Anson Academy in 1959 and went on graduate from the University of Maine Orono in 1963 with a BS degree from the Dept. Of Agriculture in Economics and Statistics with a minor in Theater. As a student, Guy was active in the local Grange, Boy Scouts and 4-H Club.
After graduation he married his late wife Sheila M. Alley of Jonesport and moved to Virginia, becoming a successful car salesman and father of three.
After Sheila's death in 1972, Guy returned to the family farm in Embden where he continued to sell cars at Thompson VW in Waterville and run the daily chores of farm with his family. He married Theresa M. Veilleux of Waterville in 1985 and became a father once again to two more children.
Guy started one of the first off-road event centers in Maine, Hunnewell Valley, in 1981. He was truly happiest during the events. He enjoyed the excitement that the mud runs, dirt drags and monster trucks brought to thousands of people for more than 30 years.
Guy was predeceased by his parents; first wife Sheila (Alley) Hunnewell; son Adam Hunnewell; and granddaughter Sheila Decker. He is survived by his wife Theresa Hunnewell of Waterville; four children, Tamara Goodale and husband Jeffrey of Fairfield, Carol Decker of Norridgewock, Guy "Chip" Hunnewell, III of Embden and Amanda Kimball and husband Shawn of Augusta; two grandsons Eric Goodale of Westbrook and Shawn Goodale of Fairfield; brother Charles Hunnewell and wife Lila of Canton, NY.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, at the Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St, Waterville. A graveside committal service will be held at a future date. An online guestbook may be signed and condolences expressed at
