Glenn Michael "Ox" Oxley
1954 - 2017
WATERVILLE - Glenn Michael "Ox" Oxley passed away on July 10, 2017, at his home in Waterville.
Ox was born in Radford, Va., but spent his high school years in Moultrie, Ga. where he attended Colquitt County High School. After graduation, he studied at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College but did not complete his degree. He moved to Syracuse, N.Y. and worked at the Syracuse Rescue Mission. In 1986 he joined ServiceMaster and then transferred to Aramark during his long career as Director of Environmental Services in hospitals throughout New England and the mid-Atlantic. He was forced to retire in 2011 for health reasons and in 2013, moved to Maine.
Ox was predeceased by his mother, Meta Chestnutt Oxley, his father, Glenn Myron Oxley; and his sister, Mary E. Oxley. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Cathy; his sons, Joshua (spouse Joanna) Oxley of Chicago and David Oxley of Arlington, Va., his daughter, Grace Oxley of Richmond, Va.; his sister, Lisa McDaniel (spouse Dennis) of Fayetteville, Ga. and his brother Gregg (spouse Kellie) of Charlottesville, Va. He leaves two nieces, Jessica McDaniel and Katie Oxley; and his beloved furry companion, Beanie.
There will be no services per Ox's wishes. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville. An online guestbook may be signed and condolences expressed at www.gallantfh.com
