Glenn E. Merry
1948 - 2017
SMITHFIELD - Glenn E. Merry, 69, of Smithfield, passed away peacefully on Oct. 29, 2017, at his home surrounded by family. Glenn enjoyed spending time using his tractor and sawmill on his many acres in Smithfield. Family genealogy and history were also a passion of Glenn's.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 30 years, Wendy; their daughter Bree, and her fiancé Chris Hartsock, his daughter Bonni Chartrand, husband Steve and grandsons Josh and Tyler, his daughter Brandi Merry, and partner Josh Karr. He is also survived by sister Selma (Merry) Berry her husband Richard, and children, Ivan Merry and wife Rowena, and children, Cecil Merry and wife Ginger, and children.
Glenn is also predeceased by his parents John and Erla Merry; brothers Trooper Tommy Merry and Edward Merry.
Glenn was a highly skilled journeymen machinist at Bath Iron Works, and Chief Inspector at Mid-State Machine in Winslow before opening his own machine shop in Smithfield. Glenn and wife Wendy also started Stonescapes & Watergardens specializing in natural ecosystems. Glenn and Wendy won Best of Show at flower shows in Portland and Bangor many times.
The memorial service will be held Thursday Nov. 9, 2017, at the Waterville Kingdom Hall at 7:00 p.m.
