Frank William Salewski
1949 - 2015
BINGHAM - Frank W. Salewski, 65, of Bingham, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015, at Togus Veterans Hospice Home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Dec. 29, 1949, in Newark, N.J., he was the son of Rexford and Patricia (Stultz) Salewski. He grew up in Gardiner and was a graduate of Gardiner High School, class of 1967.
Frank served in the Navy. When Frank returned from the service he began working at Togus Veterans Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant. While working there he returned to school at the University of Augusta where he earned his nursing degree. Frank continued his work at Togus Veterans hospital until retirement in 1998.
Frank was an avid sports fan, his favorite teams being the Red Sox and Giants. He enjoyed times spent with his family and friends playing trivia, listening to great music; his favorites being jazz and blues; talking history and antiques and enjoying the great outdoors.
Frank was predeceded in death by his parents, Rexford and Patricia (Stultz) Salewski; his wife Elaine Hinkley Roy Salewsi; and his brother Richard Salewski. Frank is survived by his two daughters: Heather Rawding of Portland, Julie Plourde of Naples, Fla.; three sisters: Mary-Ellen Abram and her husband Jim of WinterHaven, Fla., Lorraine Matos and her husband Teofilo of Gardiner, Sally Jewell and her husband Ken of Jacksonville, Ark.; four grandchildren Arthur, Nicole, Alicia Rawding and Kayla Plourde; two great-grandchildren Lucas and Samuel; three devoted cousins: Andrew Vellani of Farmingdale, Stephen Vellani of Hallowell, Don Vellani of Westbrook; his uncle Don Stultz of West Gardiner; and his longtime companion Jennifer Plato.
Frank will be missed by many his friends, and extended family members.
