WATERVILLE -- Eva M. (Doucette) Grover, 84, passed away on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Inland Hospital, following a brief illness.

Eva was born in Reading, Mass., on April 10, 1928, to the late Charles H. and Eva M. Doucette. She was married to her beloved husband, James H. Grover (deceased 2004) for 45 years.

Eva was the founder of the Kids' Kitchen at the Waterville Area Boys and Girls Club /YMCA, where she worked for many years with her colleagues to establish a program that fed hundreds of children nutritious meals at the afterschool program.

In 1998, she received the Giraffe Award, sponsored by the Maine Children's Alliance, for her selfless commitment to the club. Eva was also one of the first two women to join the Waterville Lions Club.

Eva leaves a very caring brother, John Doucette, of Fairfield; brother, Ronald Doucette, of Reading, Mass.; sister, Loraine Boiseneau, of San Diego, Calif.; sons, Peter Comeau, of Fairfield, and Francis Comeau and wife, Arejay, of Long Valley, N.J.; daughter, Eunice Zerola, of Charleston, S.C.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many good friends.

Eva was predeceased by brothers Charles (Bubba) and Richard (Dickie) Doucette.

In lieu of a funeral service, a celebration of Eva's life will be held Thursday, Sept.13, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Alfond Youth Center, 126 North St., Watervill e. Bring your memories and any photographs to share.

Donations may be made to Waterville Area Boys and Girls Club in Eva's name, to support their good works.
