Elaine Frances Bushey
1929 - 2017
OAKLAND - Elaine Frances Bushey, 88, of Oakland, died peacefully March 10, 2017, the day after her birthday, surrounded by family at Oak Grove Rehabilitation and Living Center.
Elaine was born March 9, 1929, in Orono, the daughter of William M. Grindle and Alice E. Kent. Elaine was a graduate of Brewer High School, Class of 1947.
On July 1, 1950, Elaine married the love of her life, Norman L. Bushey. She was a happy homemaker who devoted her life to her husband and five children. In addition to raising her family she donated her time to the church and her community, all while making many lifelong friends along the way. Her favorite quote was: "I live for my faith, family and friends."
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman L. Bushey; son, Laurence Bushey and his wife Anne; son in-law, Paul Kiszely; grandson, Justin Bushey; great-grandson, Kenneth Pooley; two sisters; and five brothers.
Elaine is survived by daughters: Joyce Thompson and husband Richard, of Oakland; Joan Kiszely, of Winslow; Judith Mayheux, of Augusta; and Susan Gallant and husband James, of West Gardiner; sister Darlene MacLeod and her husband Gene, of Hudson; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a large, extended family; and many friends.
Visiting hours will be Thursday, March 16, from 5-7 p.m. at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 112 Silver St., Waterville, on Friday, March 17, at 11 a.m. Burial will be held in the spring at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville.
