Dorothy Dunlap
1924 - 2017
VASSALBORO -Dorothy Dunlap, 92, a longtime resident of Annapolis, Md., was born in Jewett, Ohio, Sept, 12, 1924 and died on August 1, 2017.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Dale in 2008. They were married in Athens, Ga. in 1945. They made their home in Annapolis, Md. from 1946 to 2011 when she moved to Maine. She was also predeceased by a son, George R. Dunlap in 2010.
Frank and Colleen Dunlap have cared for her for the past nine years as she dealt with the effects of Alzheimer's and she resided in Vassalboro, Maine for the past seven years.
Mrs. Dunlap graduated from Ohio State University was a B.S. in Home Economics. Prior to having a family she was on staff at Weems System of Navigation. She and her husband Dale were members of Heritage Baptist Church where they enjoyed serving and worshipping for more than 50 years. Mrs. Dunlap had the gift of painting pictures for enjoyment.
She is survived by her son, Frank and his wife Colleen Dunlap of Vassalboro, daughter-in-law Mary Dunlap of Odenton, Md.; grandchildren, Matthew and Lindsay Dunlap of New Providence, Pa., William and Anna Dunlap of Severna Park, Md., Jennifer and Jordan Potter of Converse, Texas, Joshua and Sydney Dunlap of Scarborough, and Nathaniel and Heather Dunlap of Cumberland. She is blessed with 12 great-grandchildren. Also she leaves behind two sisters, Wilma Londot of Ohio and Ethel Smyres of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was supported by a very special family of loving caregivers: Carolyn Rosengarten from Maryland; Ruby Reilly, Cheryl Warren, Erin St. Peter, Cheryl Granquist, Amy Harris, Danielle Smith, Janet Vashon, Rhonda Winokurzew and Megan from Maine. Their love is very much appreciated.
Services will be held on Friday August 4, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at Church Hill Baptist Church, 258 Church Hill Road, Augusta. Mrs. Dorothy Dunlap will be interned beside her husband at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery, 1911 Forest Drive, Annapolis, Md. on a later date.
