Dorena Marie Dill
1923 - 2016
GARDINER - Dorena Dill passed away on June 6, 2016, at age 92. She died peacefully in her home in Gardiner, after battling cancer.
The daughter of Francois and Delena (Bolduc) Gagne, Dorena married Ralph E. Dill on April 26, 1943. They were married for 67 years before Ralph passed on March 13, 2011.
Dorena is survived by her daughter Peggy Lee Pare, her cousin Anita Whitehouse, her daughter-in-law Cindy and Nick Russo; her grandchildren, Darlene and John Dumont, Steven Dostie, Mark and Stacy Pare, Dorena and Jan Martin, Ann-Marie Dill, Crystal and Larry Hadley, Eliot and Kristie Dill, Corey Allen and Amanda Palmer, and Cristy and Paul Ingram; her 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph E. Dill; her parents, Francois and Delena Gagne; her brother, Joseph (Florian) Gagne; her son, James J. Dill; her daughter, Anita M. Dostie; her grandson, Douglas Dill; and her son-in law, Albert A. Pare.
Dorena and Ralph lived in Farmingdale after they were married in the house Ralph's father built on Northern Avenue. It was a very happy home and all were welcome. It was a place where they could tell funny stories and enjoy doughnuts, cookies, and a good cup of coffee. Dorena was always busy making crafts. She loved to sew and make dresses for her two daughters, Peggy and Anita. Dorena could knit beautiful sweaters and crochet scrubbies and potholders. She would sew on buttons and fix zippers for the neighborhood kids. Dorena loved to dance and on Saturdays she would go with Ralph to hear him play trumpet in the band. She would say, "Dad works and I dance to his music. I don't know if I fell in love with him or his trumpet. I am lucky; I loved them both." In the end, Dorena felt she lived a full and happy life, and God had been good to her.
Dorena would like to express her sincere appreciation to all who helped her during her time after Ralph's passing, for all of the rides to appointments and all of the times she was taken out to lunch. We would like to thank Hospice for the wonderful care they have provided Dorena with in the last few weeks.

When I quit this mortal shore,
And mosey round this earth
no more,
Don't weep or sigh
or grieve a cob,
I may have struck a better job...
Don't go and buy
a big bouquet,
For which you'll find it
hard to pay,
Don't hang around me
lookin' blue,
I may be better off than you.
