CLINTON -- David Lee Watson, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday morning, March 26, 2013, at his home, with his wife Lila by his side.

Dave was born in Waterville, the son of Myron and Junita (Salisbury) Watson. He lived nearly his entire life in the town of Clinton. Dave graduated from Clinton High School in 1958. He then joined the U.S. Navy, where he served actively, and then was in the reserves for 22 years.

David worked for Central Maine Power Co. in Waterville, Fairfield, Augusta and Skowhegan in several capacities and retired as line superintendent. He later worked for On Target Utilities for five years. He held a master electrician's license. David was a member of the Clinton Lions Club (past president and pulling superintendent of the Lions Club fair), Waterville Elks Club, American Legion Post 0186 of Clinton, Maine Draft Horse and Ox Association, Pine Tree Steer and Ox Association and the Farmers Club. He also was a director and trustee of the Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, Mass.

He loved spending time at his camp on Moosehead Lake. While at camp, he enjoyed boating, fishing, riding the back roads, interacting with his grandchildren and sitting in his recliner visiting with family and friends. He loved to travel, having visited places including the Arctic Circle, Europe, Alaska and the Caribbean on a cruise his wife, children and grandchildren. He also loved being a lineman and attending agricultural fairs, where he watched the animal pulls.

He was predeceased by his parents, Myron and June; and his grandparents, Eugene and Pearl Salisbury and Harold and Meritta Watson; in addition, his father- and mother-in-law, Sherwin and Margarett Crosby; sister and brother-in-law, Glenn and Janet Price; a nephew, Steven Crosby; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

He is survived by his wife, Lila; his daughter, Laurie Dale, and her husband, David, of Manchester, and their sons, Matthew and Jonathan; his son, David Watson II, and his wife, Lorriann, of Clinton, and their children, Devon and Lauren Lee. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Gerald Watson, and wife Ruth, of Clinton; brothers-in-law and wives, James and Joan Crosby, of Albion, and Bently and Trudy Crosby, of Winslow; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 1, at Brown Memorial United Methodist Church in Clinton. Burial will be held later in the spring at Green Lawn Rest Cemetery in Clinton.
