David Allen Knights
1955 - 2017
RIVERVIEW, Fla. - David A. Knights, 62, died Sept. 22, 2017, in Riverview, Fla., after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born April 27, 1955, in Waterville, the son of Russell John Knights and Lois Steeves Knights.
He graduated from Lawrence High School in Fairfield in 1973, and Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute in 1975.
He worked for Saco Defense and went on to travel with the carnival circuit all over the U.S. for years before settling down with the love of his life, Beverly Root, in Riverview, Fla., where he started his own business, Knightly Lawn Care. David had hundreds of customers and was loved and respected by all of them.
David was a devoted member of the Riverview Moose Lodge 2158, and also enjoyed his beekeeping and selling his homemade honey.
David and his brother Bruce would find treasures between landscaping jobs and repurpose them to sell at the flea markets in Florida.
David was predeceased by his father, Russell Knights; and mother, Lois Steeves Knights. He is survived by his love of 34 years, Beverly Root, of Riverview, Fla.; and her children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Bruce Knights, and wife Joyce, of Venice, Fla.; his sister, Patricia Gogan, and husband Loring, of Clinton; his brother, Michael Knights, and wife Sallyann, of Skowhegan; his sister, Kathryn Moody, and husband Mack, of Benton; as well as several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins, and extended family and friends.
