BRUNSWICK -- Carrie Sewell French, 83, went home to be with the Lord on July 16, 2013, surrounded by her loving family following a short period of ill health.

Carrie was born in Perham March 31, 1930, the daughter of Manzer and Pauline (Faulkner) Sewell. She graduated from Newport High School in Newport, and Zion Bible Institute in Rhode Island. In 1956 Carrie founded the Calvary Pentecostal Church in Madison assisted by her sister, Inez Sewell MacKinnon. She later moved back to Maine and worked for Dexter Shoe Co. then moved to Waterville and worked at Mid Maine Medical Center in Waterville as a bookkeeper until her retirement.

She had many friends both in Maine and in Florida where she spent winters with her sister Inez and brother-in-law Ralph MacKinnon. Carrie was always active in church work and faithful to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Carrie was predeceased by her parents Manzer and Pauling Sewell, her brother Herbert C. Sewell and her sister Priscilla Sewell Smith. She is survived by her sister and husband, Inez and Ralph Mackinnon, of Inverness, Fla., her two sons, Roger J. French and his wife, Claire, of Gilmanton, N.H., Timothy D. French and his wife, Kathy, of Brunswick. Carrie was lovingly known as "Mimi" to her seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carrie was a resident of Pejepscot Terrace in Brunswick and leaves behind her "dorm girls" where she enjoyed activities with them and the other residents. During her Florida visits Carrie loved to attend Bible and Breakfast Friends group where she was respected and loved for her input, friendship and humor.

Memorial services and celebration of her life will be held Friday, July 19, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Main Street Baptist Church in Brunswick, followed by a private burial in Riverside Cemetery Newport.
