HARTLAND -- Benny-Jo Lancaster, 37, died on March 23, 2013, after a long illness.

He was born on April 12, 1975, in Waterville, the son of Judy Turner. He graduated from Nokomis High School with the class of 1993.

Benny worked for a time in the Columbia, S.C., area as well as Thomaston as a boat builder. He learned that trade and enjoyed it. He had a love for gardening and his life-long dream was to own his own organic farm. He also owned and enjoyed vintage cars.

One of Benny's favorite places was up back behind his grandparent's house at the man-made pond. This place had special meaning to him. There you could sit on the hill, overlook the pond and enjoy what was offered -- listening to the frogs peep, watch the birds and small animals. If you were patient, you may even see a deer or even a moose. Serenity, peace of mind, it was a wonderful place to think.

Benny was predeceased by his grandparents, Lillian and Clayton Smith, of Hartland.

He is survived by his mother, Judy Turner, and her husband, Bub Turner, of Hartland; siblings Katrina Meservey and husband Bob, of Newport, Deven Turner and Taylor, of Palmyra and Trevor Turner and wife Carissa, of Palmyra; nieces Kymberlin Meservey and Britanny Turner; a nephew, Tyler Turner; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

A gathering to celebrate Benny's life will take place at a later date.
