Audrey Fern (Bryson) Godreau
1937 - 2018
WATERVILLE -
Audrey Fern
(Bryson) Godreau, born on April 4, 1937 in Corinna, to the late Cecil Whittaker Bryson and the late Michael Bryson, passed away at age 81 on April 5, 2018 in Waterville. She graduated High School from Corinna Union Academy.
She worked as a bank teller and head teller at Depositors Trust in her early career and then was employeed in the accounting/payroll department at LaVerdiere's for many years until their closing in the 90s. She also worked part-time for her daughter and son-in-law at Weight Room Fitness.
Audrey was preceded in death by her brothers, Owen Bryson, Merle Bryson, and Allen Bryson, and sisters, Muriel Robinson, Iris Tuttle, and Arlene Ireland. She is survived by her daughter, Jodi Ireland and son-in-law Jay Ireland; grandson Jace Ireland and his wife Samantha; sisters, Shirley (Robert) Brodeaur, Lurene Parker, and her closest sister, Emilie Gould; her special niece Melissa (Ron) Fanjoy; greatnephews Forrest and Reed Fanjoy; and many other nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her greatly loved cats, Mitzi and Patchi. She was also a very special GG to her grandpuppies Frankie and Lily who spent many hours in her lap keeping her company.
Before Alzheimers Disease, Audrey loved the outdoors during all seasons. She loved to play in the dirt with her flowers, shovel snow and take daily walks. For many years she enjoyed visiting with elderly neighbors and was known to help out with errands, a meal and lots of conversation. (Audrey was a talker!) She was very independent, frugal and stubborn which were personality traits that helped her get through many years of being a single parent. She centered her life around her daughter Jodi and grandson Jace and was always talking about them with pride. She loved her family.
Many thanks to the CNAs at Mt. St. Joseph during her brief stay. A very special thank you for the care and compassion given by all the staff of Beacon Hospice.
Friends and family members may attend the graveside service on Saturday, June 16 at 11 a.m. at Corinna Village Cemetery, Stetson Road, Corinna. Immediately after, everyone is invited to a light luncheon at the Corinna American Legion located on Maple Street in Corinna.
