1920 - 2017

STERLING, Mass. - Arlene C. (Millett) Kennedy, 97, passed away peacefully in the Sterling Nursing Center on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017.

She grew up in Richmond, Maine, the daughter of the late Charles and Rose (Dearborn) Millett.

She graduated from Richmond High School in 1939 and married Charles N. Kennedy in August of 1939. She worked in Richmond's Ames Textile Mill and the Etonic Shoe factory as well as several years as a hair stylist in Gardiner, Maine until her retirement.

In her later years she enjoyed spending summers at her cottage on the Belgrade Lakes East Pond, surrounded by her family and friends. She also enjoyed antiquing and cited her visit to Pearl Harbor, HI in 1989, as an especially poignant experience, given her vivid memories of WWII.

She is predeceased by her husband Charles and her brother Raymond Millett.

She leaves her daughter Dolores Kennedy Londis and her husband James, her son Norman C. Kennedy; six grandchildren Jeff, Lorelle, Andrew, Debra, Shelley and Richard; 13 great-grandchildren.

A brief family service is planned in the near future at her gravesite in Richmond where her husband Charles is buried.
