WINSLOW -- Andrew James Harfoush, 49, died unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 26, 2012, at his home in Winslow.

He was born Nov. 26, 1963, in Waterville, the son of Kelley and Joanne (McFarland) Harfoush.

Andrew graduated from Winslow High School and immediately enlisted in the Navy. He returned to Maine where he worked as a manager for more than 15 years at various Hannaford supermarkets.

From a young age, Andy was always a free spirit. He enjoyed time with his family, especially his children. He had an infectious laugh and was always very generous with a great sense of humor. He loved sports, especially the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins, and was athletic in his youth, excelling in basketball and baseball. Andrew also had huge compassion for animals as shown by his community service at the local humane society. Andy loved to talk about current events and was very interested in the recent presidential election.

He is survived by his father, Kelley Harfoush of Winslow; son, Jason Harfoush of China; daughter, Jennifer Johnson of Clinton; brother, Daniel and his wife, Stephanie Harfoush, of Standish; brother, John and his wife, Belinda Harfoush, of Ogunquit; sister, Karen and her husband, Michael Michaud, of Winslow. Andrew also had two grandchildren, Lyrik Harfoush, 6, of China and Isaac Johnson, 4, of Clinton. He was predeceased by his mother, Joanne (McFarland) Harfoush.

There will be a small, informal celebration of life from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church on U.S. Route 201 in Vassalboro. If people would like to make a memorial contribution in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Humane Society Waterville Area, 100 Webb Road, Waterville, ME 04901, because of Andrew's love for all animals.

"May god watch over you until we meet again."

Arrangements under the care and direction of Dan & Scott's Cremation & Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan, ME 04976.
