1932-2014

PITTSTON - Robert L. Bennett, 81, died unexpectedly Friday, June 27, 2014, at Maine Medical Center, Portland. He was born in Lewiston on Oct. 10, 1932, the son of the late Frank and Florence (Moore) Bennett.

Mr. Bennett was a graduate of Waterville High School.

He was a Navy veteran, serving during the Korean war.

Mr. Bennett had been employed by Maine Central Railroad for 46 years.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and was a member of the Masons, the Kora Temple Shriners and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Bob enjoyed NASCAR racing and being with his family.

Mr. Bennett was predeceased his daughter, Gayle Pushor; a stepdaughter, Salena Arbour; and a great-granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Diane M. (Melanson) Bennett, of Pittston; two stepsons: Scott Paradis, his wife Tina, and her daughter, Miranda, of Sidney, and Stephen Paradis, his wife Betty-Jo, and their daughter, Makayla, of Farmingdale; grandsons Richard Dunton and his wife ,Kristin, and their child, Dylan, and Eric Dunton; a step-granddaughter, Natalie Arbour; a step-son-in-law, Shawn Arbour; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At his request, there will be no public visiting hours. A committal service with military honors will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, at the new Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. There will be a gathering of family and friends at a location to be announced immediately following the committal.
