MERCER - Jeanne Merola Mukai passed away on the morning of April 30 after a long battle with breast cancer. She went on her own terms, surrounded by love and family at her home in Mercer.

She was born in the Bronx, N.Y., and was a graduate of Colby College.

She spent her life as an educator in area schools.

She leaves behind her husband of 41 years, Ken; her sons, Jeff, Nick and Seth and his wife, Hope; two grandchildren, Emiko and Winslow; and three sisters, Carol, Marie and Margaret.

They would also like to thank Dr. Hertler and the incredible staff at the Harold Alfond Cancer Center. They have asked that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the cancer center in her name.

Her family will honor her wishes to not hold a funeral and instead host a memorial party at a date to be finalized for later this summer.
