CHARLESTON, S.C. -- E. Joyce Bowman, 71, died peacefully at home on Monday, July 8, 2013, in Charleston, S.C.

Born Sunday, Nov. 30, 1941, in Dix, Ill., she was the daughter of Herbert Dobbs and the late Edna Foutch Dobbs.

Joyce was a graduate of Southern Illinois University and worked on her master's degree at Arizona State University, where she met her husband of 45 years, Dr. T. Clark Bowman. She was a devoted wife and mother of three children.

Joyce was predeceased by daughter, Tiffany Susan Bowman, and her mother, Edna Foutch Dobbs. Joyce will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Dr. T. Clark Bowman; sons Camden Bowman (Jennifer Muse) of Charleston, and Christian Bowman, of Bluffton, S.C.; and daughter Courtney Bowman (Christian Martin), of Charleston. She is also survived by grandchildren Christian J. Bowman and Daphnie Bowman; father Herbert W. Dobbs, of Centralia, Ill.; twin brother, Wayne Dobbs (Jody), of Centralia; brother Warren Dobbs (Carolyn), of Centralia; sister Judy Rohner (Larry), of Centralia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 12, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, West Ashley Chapel, 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, S.C., 29414. Funeral service followed at 1 p.m. at the chapel. Interment will be at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Charleston.
