1951-2014

WATERVILLE - Timothy Hugh Achorn, passed at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta on Sunday, August 17, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 22, 1951, in Waterville, the son of Irene Dunton Achorn and Hugh Achorn.

He attended Benton schools and graduated from Lawrence High School in Fairfield, class of 1969. He also attended Unity College. Timothy was employed by Keyes Fibre/Huhtamaki for 41 years. He was previously a member of the Waterville Elks Lodge.

Above all Timothy loved his family. He was very proud of his three children and their spouses and he adored his seven grandchildren. He enjoyed sports, playing baseball, basketball and football in high school, and continuing to play basketball at Unity College. He also played softball in the area for many years. He helped coach Little League and Youth League Baseball for a few years when his sons were active in those sports. Timothy also enjoyed being an assistant to Coach Mike McGee with the Lawrence Basketball Team for several years. He loved playing card games and hosted card parties at his home with friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Irene Dunton Achorn and Hugh Achorn.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Hamlin Achorn; his daughter, Michelle Achorn Bard and her husband, Matthew, and their children, Tyler, Teya and Trey, all of Fairfield; his son, Jason Timothy Achorn and his wife, Denise, and their sons, Michael and Sean, and his son Kevin Michael Achorn and his wife, Brenda and their daughters, Madyson and Mikayla, all of Waterville; his brother, Larry Wescott and his wife, Ramona, and their children, James, Barbara and Brenda, and their children all of Skowhegan; his brother, Raymond Achorn and his wife, Judy of Tyler, Texas, and their sons, Travis and Brent; his sister, Evelyn Blodgett of Winslow and her children, Jill Johnson and her spouse, Mark, Scott Blodgett, and Cindy Blodgett. Also surviving are Thayer Blodgett; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, August 21, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 22, at Fairfield First Baptist Church, Newhall St., Fairfield. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Grove St., Waterville.

The family would like to thank all of our family and friends for the outpouring of love, caring, and support over the past several months. Thank you to the staff at Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care, the staff at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, and our primary care provide, Lynn Cote. The family also sends a special thank-you to Timothy's co-workers at Huhtamaki and Pastor Stephen Donahue.
