FAIRFIELD - Marie Jeanne (Dumond) Hood of Fairfield, passed away peacefully at the age of 84, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 29, 2014.
Jeanne was born in Wallagrass, Maine, to Albert and Isabelle (Labbe) Dumond, moving to Lewiston with her family in her early teens. She later moved to Fairfield in the mid/late 60's with her husband, Erle, and children. She enjoyed spending summers at their camp in The Forks, Maine, overlooking the Kennebec River fishing, cooking, and playing cribbage with family and good friends. Jeanne was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #6924 Women's Auxiliary and a member of the American Legion Post #14.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Erle Hood, whom she married in 1965 and resided with until his death in 2006 at their home in Fairfield.
Jeanne will be dearly missed by her loving family including her three sons, Mark Tucker and his wife, Amie, of Fairfield, Randy Tucker and his partner, Nancy Wilson, of Skowhegan, and Bruce Tucker, of Fairfield; her daughter, Jeanie (Hood) Hachey, of Madison; her stepchildren, Claudia Burke and her husband, Al, of Bridgton, and Ned Hood and his wife, Kathie, of Palmyra; her beloved grandchildren, Jason Low, Jessica Webber, Samantha Post, Matthew Post, Sarah Post, Keith Tucker, Megan Hall, Ryan Tucker, Adam Burke, Amy (Hood) Glidden, Emily Hood, Katelyn Hood, and Molly Hood; and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by three of her 13 siblings, Paul Dumond and his wife, Roseanne, of Aurora, Colorado, Lou Dumond, of Lewiston, and Patsy Cote and her husband, Larry, of Lewiston; as well as her dear in-laws including Pearly Hood and his partner, June Forbes, of Greenville, and Marjorie Hood of Waterville; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A small graveside service will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Fairfield on Saturday, August 16 at 11 a.m. with a Ceremony of Life to follow at the V.F.W. Post #6924 at 12 p.m. in Fairfield.

The family of Jeanne wishes to thank all the wonderful staff at Redington Fairview General Hospital and MaineGeneral Hospice for their caring support and loving care during her final days. And a very special thanks to her close friends Gail and Alberto Ballestas.
