Larry worked as an accountant for several Maine hospitals, leaving to work for Metropolitan Life for four years, and then returning to the finance departments of other hospitals.

He spent his final 11 years working at Waldo County General Hospital until retiring in 2009 to spend more time with his family and enjoy life.

Beginning at the age of 12, Larry became an avid golfer, winning the club championship in 1980 from the Bath Country Club playing and placing seventh in the Paul Bunyan Amateur Golf Tournament in which he played for more than 12 years. Larry also enjoyed camping, fishing at Jo Mary Lake Camp Ground as well as riding his ATV with his family. He really enjoyed the competition of card and board games. For several years Larry was a 4th Angel Mentor Volunteer with The Scott Hamilton Cares Initiative, counseling other cancer patients from several other states.
