MOXIE GORE TOWNSHIP - John Anthony Decker Jr., 91, of Moxie Gore Township, passed away on July 25, 2014, after a brief illness. John was born on July 6, 1923, in Butler, N.J., to John A. Sr. and Agnes Decker.

On Dec 9, 1942 he enlisted in the United States Navy and became a carpenter's mate second class. He earned several ribbons including Entitled to Good Conduct and a Victory Ribbon. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 27, 1946. After his service to his country, he continued to work as a carpenter and a fine craftsman.

One of his hobbies, hunting, brought him to Maine, where he, family and friends bought a hunting camp, "The Moxie Falls Club." John enjoyed many years in the Maine woods. He was an avid collector of many items and loved his many pets he owned, mostly Labs. John found peace in things most of us overlooked. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.

A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, August 4th, at 6 p.m. at Addie's All American Grill in West Forks. John could be found there nearly every day while he was heading down to Berry's General Store to enjoy a cup of coffee and see all his friends in town. Thanks to all who have helped him throughout the years. "We will miss you John!"

Arrangements under the care and direction of Dan & Scott's Cremation & Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan.
