SKOWHEGAN - Bruce A. Bradford, 68, of Skowhegan, died July 31, 2014. He was born July 20, 1946.

Raised on the coast of Maine with fond memories of spending summer at the family camp at Spruce Head Island, he was drafted into the Army and served in the Vietnam War. Upon return from the war, Bruce became employed with C&J's Trucking based out of Fairfield driving his rig named "Bricks and Sticks." Afterwards, Bruce worked with Solon Manufacturing.

Bruce lived to teach his children and grandchildren how to fish, partial to catching mackerel in the ocean off the wharf. He often sold them for bait to lobsterman and deep-sea fisherman. He also tied flies, taught kids how to skateboard and perfect tricks, invent games, and delight in their growth, even supporting his granddaughter's love of trucks. Those living nearby all knew he enjoyed being outside in all weather, even teaching kids how to cast fishing poles in the driveway with washers tied to the end of the line.

He is survived by his wife Susan (Irene) Bradford, son Dickie and daughter Cathy, granddaughters Sasha Bradford and Sonya Fox and great-grandson Gage, as well as many loving nephews and friends.

Service in Bruce's memory will be held at the Federated Church in Skowhegan, Maine, on Saturday, August 9 at 10 a.m.
